US Green Bulding Council Member

J&S Audio Visual, Inc. is proud to be the first audio visual company in the State of Texas to become a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. The audio visual industry as a whole is making tremendous strides in becoming more conscientious of our environment. In an effort to continue its leadership role within our industry, J&S recently joined USGBA, the leaders in "green" building and education.

The U.S. Green Building Council is a non-profit community of leaders working to make green building accessible to everyone within a generation. USGBC certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools and neighborhoods. They are dedicated to expanding green building practices and education.

JSAV Nominated for 2010 Spotlight Award

Cancun, Mexico - Event Solutions Magazine, Conference, and Tradeshow recently announced that J&S Audio Visual is a finalist in the 2010 Spotlight Awards in the category of Stage Design.

Mexico operations of J&S Audio Visual have been operating since 1993. The development over the past 5 years of their scenic department into a consummate scenic entity is due to the direction of Scenic & Artistic Director Mike Thibodeau. This is the second time Mike and his team became finalists for this award.

The finalists were selected from a field of more than 600 nominations based on their entry profile, which speaks to their body of work. The finalists represent some of the top event professionals not just in the United States, but internationally. The prestigious Spotlight Awards, the event industry’s most comprehensive awards program began in 1998 and has grown to include 20 categories.

Finalists were published in the December issue of Event Solutions magazine and appear on the voting site of event-solutions.com until January 31, 2010. Recipients of the award will be presented the awards statue on March 8, 2010 in Las Vegas, as the signature event of the Event Solutions Conference and Tradeshow.

World's Largest Pie Fight - A Guinness World Record

Grapevine, TX  – What do you get when you mix 434 people and 1,200 pies? The world’s Largest Pie Fight, certified by Guinness World Records!

J&S Audio Visual provided Dalton-based Shaw Industries, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer and a leading flooring provider with two handheld cameras, a carpet cam, a tent cam,  a jib cam, and high scaffold tower cam; 6 cameras in total to document the event. J&S also provided the lighting: some 64 conventionals, 24 LED’s, and multiple robotic lights to help set the mood and encourage the excitement.

The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD attempt for the world’s Largest Pie Fight was on Jan. 7 and was successful. The pie fight, which took place at Embassy Suites Outdoor World in Grapevine, Tex. on Shaw’s Anso nylon carpet, designed to demonstrate Anso nylon’s superior ability to repel stains and to be easily cleaned. The world record attempt involved 1,200 pies of various flavors including cherry, chocolate and apple. The event shattered the previous Largest Pie Fight world record of 269 participants, which was set by the television show “LIVE! With Regis and Kelly” on Sept. 17, 2009. Danny Girton Jr., Guinness World Records adjudications manager, was on-site to verify the event.

A Fortune 100 senior vice president and chief marketing officer once told me “My job will be done when non customers get tattoos of our logo…” The comment was in reference to Harley Davidson’s successful brand image campaign of the 1990’s, which in turn made the “backsides” of many non-motorcycles riders sport a Harley logo.

These days brand image campaigns motivate customers less and less, how the brand experience relates to and advances their own environment and culture is the true motivation. There is an old saying “Sales is getting people to buy what you have and Marketing is having what people want to buy”: Let me add, “Branding is getting people to know what they are getting before they buy it”

J&S has been providing creative audiovisual solutions to business and industry for more than 20 years. Our customers know what a great experience the J&S brand brings to their environment; nevertheless, they were less inclined to associate it with any specific corporate identity or image. In addition, those who partnered with us in one division were not necessarily aware of the other three divisions. Therefore, we set out to develop a brand in the marketplace that connected with those exceptional qualities and characteristics that make it a special experience to partner with any J&S division.

The process of creating the new brand image is a long, deliberate, and it suffices to say difficult, yet J&S collaborated with some of the top professionals in the brand communications industry for a great result.
